The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre

The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre is housed in one of the original goldrush buildings associated with the Chinese community. It is telling the story of the Chinese on the Ovens District Goldfields.

The aim of the Chinese Cultural Centre will integrate the role of the Chinese Protector into its theme to develop a new approach to storytelling re the Chinese community.

Opening Ceremony The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre features the contribution the Chinese made to the town/region through their ingenuity and hard work. It actively integrates different features of the town and region ensuring visitors have a varied and different cultural experience beyond the walls of the building.

The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre has a team of volunteer supporters well-versed in Chinese history within Beechworth and beyond.

The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre has a varied collection of artifacts and information for the public to access. The range of artifacts on display will be changed regularly.

The Beechworth Chinese Cultural Centre staff are the focal point for Chinese cultural issues in North East Victoria. No other Chinese Cultural facility exists in the North East of Victoria.
